This term our major unit will be "Windows Into The Industrial World". We will be using Science and Technology to take a lot at the way fibres are made to construct fabrics and how their construction relates to their uses. There we be some in class testing using the scientific method of:
Posing a question to investigate
Creating a hypothesis or best guess
Carrying out an investigation through 'fair testing
Making observations and measurements
Reviewing and discussing the results
Communicating our findings
In Maths we are going to continue learning mental strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems. You'll be grouped according to the strategies you use and then we will work on learning and practising these strategeis. Remember - Maths is easy when you know a few tricks! We will also be completing Statistical work from Term 1 in the first week as well as fun Geometry tasks nearer the end of the term. We have two PE units this term. The first is "Invasion Games'. This will see us learn strategies for different types of games that involve scoring points, and gaining and keeping possession of an object or goal. The great this is you can use these strategies with you weekly school or club sport - hockey, soccer, netball etc.
In writing we will be learning how to write procedures and instructions and also learning the process authors go through to create books. We will use this process to create books for our buddy Year 2 class. In reading we will be continuing to learn reading strategies to help us understand non-fiction texts as well as studying procedures which will help us to write them later on in the term.
